Chaplaincy: Miss Connaughton

Hello! My name is Miss Connaughton and I am Director of Raising Achievement and part of the BTHCC Chaplaincy Team. I started working at BTHCC February 2002 as a trainee RE teacher and then got a full time position teaching RE starting in September the same year.

My faith is something really important to me. I have always believed in God and have always tried to share this belief with those around me through my actions. Pupils sometimes find it odd when I talk about going to Mass on a Sunday and even stranger when I say I enjoy it – but I do! Its a time with no distractions, just time to reflect, give thanks for all the good things in life and pray for anyone who needs God’s help.

Teaching is also a great passion of mine and is greatly helped by being in such a great school. Right from my very first day I had a feeling that BTHCC was a very special place. Pupils walk around school and arrive to lessons smiling, happy, full of fun and eager to share their stories with friends and teachers alike. Staff can be seen laughing with each other, help and encourage each other. When there’s a Whole College event taking place, like fundraising for charity or auditions for the annual Talent Show there’s a real buzz around the place, a true sense of community spirit. I often say ‘I love my job’ and I mean it! BTHCC is a remarkable place; a place where we are all members of a Catholic community. A place where each person at BTHCC plays a very important role in making everyone in our community feel respected, valued and special. Our Chaplaincy Team will be making sure that we continue this work through our Masses, Prayers, Liturgical services and charity work.
