Chaplaincy: Miss Lewis
I have a strong belief that as a Catholic school, we all have shared values, which makes us all have something in common with each other. The fact that we all support the same God and all attend Mass together, gives us all a sense of community.
My role on the Chaplaincy Team is to support pupils through Music. At Blessed Thomas Holford, I have been taking part in Year 7 and 8 Masses, as well as in Whole School Masses. Many pupils have come to tell me how much they have enjoyed singing the ‘Clap Clap Gloria’ and a final hymn. I hope that this will eventually develop into the whole school being a regular ‘singing school.’ Many thanks to the school choir who have been supporting us through our singing!
Someone once said that if you sing, you actually pray twice!! I believe that when people sing together, it enhances the feeling of community. Singing actually releases hormones called ‘endorphins’, which makes you feel happy! Therefore, if the staff and pupils at Blessed Thomas Holford become a singing community, we will all be a very happy community!
