Dear Parent
Welcome to Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College.
We believe our school to be outstanding in the provision offered to our pupils. The last five years has been marked by exceptional achievement including an Ofsted judgement of Outstanding in every area of the school. Our GCSE Results continue to be excellent and our value added progress in the top 10% of schools in the country resulting in a number of awards from the Specialist Schools Trust.
There are three words which sum up Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College – Aspirational, Exceptional, Outstanding.
We aspire to a better future for our pupils.
Our capacity to get better is boundless. Our new second specialism in Applied Learning will complement the already outstanding work in Mathematics and ICT. The school’s reputation has led to invitations to national conferences to talk about the excellent work taking place in our school. We have started plans to set up our own 6th Form so that the superb education provided for our pupils can be extended beyond 16. In 2010 we will open an eLearning Centre containing the most up to date ICT equipment and facilities and which will undoubtedly be the best in the north of England. A major reason for this development is our excellent reputation as a Mathematics and ICT College and the status of Lead School for the new ICT Diploma. We also plan to teach a number of adult classes in ICT in the evening to complement our extensive community provision which presently exists through the Sports Academy.
Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College is truly exceptional in the provision it offers to pupils.
The Football Academy has been used by the England team and a number of other professional clubs. Our netball and tennis facilities provide excellent opportunities for our pupils to excel in sport. Our tracking of pupils’ progress has resulted in record breaking results and the school was recently chosen by the National College for School Leadership to be a National Leader School to spread our good practice more widely and we are sharing our expertise with a number of schools in Greater Manchester.
Our results and achievements are outstanding.
Our Ofsted inspection of June 2008 judged the school to be Outstanding in every area – only a small percentage of schools nationally achieve this result. In a further recent Ofsted inspection of our Leadership and Management in June 2009 we were again judged outstanding. Ofsted were particularly impressed with the shared vision of the staff and pupils, the relentless pursuit of excellence and the ambitious plans we have for making the school even better. I was particularly pleased that Ofsted found the achievement of each pupil to be at the heart of every single aspect of our work.
We hope you will want to join us to achieve excellence for your child.
Yours sincerely,
J Cornally
